Auditions
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15
What to Expect
Students need only attend one audition day (Spring or Summer). An electronic sign-up will be available one month prior to the applicable audition date. Casting, prayer groups and the Missions Team for 2023 will be announced Sunday, June 4.
Auditions will be held in the Chaine studio. Students age 14+ are encouraged to warm up in the Soutenu studio and enter the audition room warm, prepared and ready to go. Please note the Soutenu studio will become available until 11 a.m., and students age 10-13 will warm up together as part of their audition process. Auditions will consist of a 15 minute welcome/introductions and prayer, 1 hour of dance/choreography, and 45 minutes of acting/performance exercises. Students who would like to be considered for a pointe role should bring their shoes to auditions.
Dancers age 14+ who have not previously been a member of FYDC must perform a prepared variation during the audition process. If a student is a returning member of the company and wishes to showcase additional styles (pointe, Acro, modern, special skills, etc.), those students are encouraged to perform a variation as well. Variations should not exceed 3 minutes in length.
What to Bring
There will be a $20 audition fee, which will cover registration and class costs. All students must complete and turn in an audition form for the applicable season. New students must provide a headshot and a photo in first arabesque.
Eligible students who would like to be considered for the FYDC Missions Team must also complete an FYDC Missions application for the applicable season. All audition forms and missions applications will be collected during the first 15 minutes of the scheduled audition time.
If a student is interested in joining the company but is unable to attend either of the audition dates, please contact fideleyouthdancecompany@gmail.com prior to the second audition date to make alternate arrangements.
What to Wear
All auditioning students should dress as they would for a classical ballet class. Modest coverups should be worn to and from the auditions, and may be worn during the acting/performance portion of the audition.
All auditioning students must have their costume measurements taken in the warmup studio before leaving their audition. Students age 10-13 should be measured after their audition time. Students age 14+ can be measured before or after they audition. Coverups must be removed before measurements are taken.
